The LIDL customer first application

Brief

The LIDL customer first application was commissioned to provide an easy to use platform for delivering training content and maintain the standards of customer service of LIDL staff deliver day to day.

The requirement of the application was to gameify the training process. The application would have:

  • a single player option (for independent training and revision)

  • a multi player option (to create a sense of competition between trainees)

  • a trainer view for management oversight

This allows for employees to use the app to study and familiarize themselves with their responsibilities, while also allowing trainers to run onboarding sessions to train groups of multiple new hires.

Initial Meetings

Though the client had a broad understanding of the product they were aiming to create we felt it was important to take the Lidl stake holders through an overview of the process we would be using to develop their application.

Ensuring client buy in to the UX led design process make the production process smoother from the very start.

We gained an understanding of the users through observation, interviews, and immersing ourselves in their experiences.

  • We experienced the current training that staff are brought through.

  • Interviewed recent staff who had gone through the process.

  • And unpacked all the gathered data to determine what works and identify any pain points.

Throughout this process we worked closely with a representative of the development team to ensure the viability of the requirements being defined.
